Getting started with Merkato Pro: a guide for Ethiopian retailers
Running a shop means making regular decisions about what to buy, how much to order and when to restock. Merkato Pro brings product browsing, supplier offers and ordering into one wholesale marketplace for retailers in Ethiopia. Here is how to use it for your next stock purchase.
Start with the products your shop needs
Open the Merkato Pro marketplace and browse the catalog or search for a product. Product photos and categories help you narrow the selection before you place an order. Check the product name, model and available details carefully: products that look similar may have different specifications or packaging.
Keep a short buying list beside you. Include the item, preferred brand or model and the quantity you need. If a description does not answer an important question, ask for clarification before ordering instead of assuming that two offers are identical.
Create an account or sign in to see prices
The website lets visitors browse products, while prices and ordering require a retailer account. Choose Sign in. If you are new, use Create Account and enter your name, shop or business name, phone number and password. Add your delivery address or landmark so the order can be handled with the right location information.
If you already use Merkato Pro, sign in with your existing account. The website also offers password recovery by SMS to your registered Ethiopian phone number. Keep your password private, and use your own account when checking orders or account information.
Review the offer before adding it to your cart
Look at the current price, supplier, quantity and minimum order. Where several offers are available, compare the actual product and order conditions as well as the price. Stock and prices can change, so an earlier screenshot or old message is not a substitute for the current offer.
Add the quantity you need to your cart, then review every line. Remove accidental duplicates and check units and pack sizes. A larger quantity is useful only if it fits your shop's demand and storage space.
Check delivery or pickup and the final total
Review the delivery fee and the order total before confirming. Where pickup is available, check its location and conditions. Delivery coverage, pickup availability and timing depend on the order and location; do not assume the same arrangements apply to every item.
Submit the order only after checking the address and any order notes. Then use your order history to follow its status. An order being submitted is different from it being delivered: rely on the recorded status and confirmation for your order.
Use the channel that fits your day
You can shop through the website or use the Merkato Pro Android app linked from the marketplace. Merkato Pro also supports Telegram shopping tools. Use the official links provided by the service, and ask the shopping assistant specific questions about a product or order when you need help.
For a first purchase, a focused list makes it easier to review quantities and understand the process. After receiving stock, compare what arrived with your order record and raise any discrepancy through customer service.
